OPELOUSAS, La. (NEWS 15) — A local car dealership handed out bulletproof vests to law enforcement officers, continuing a years-long effort to protect those who serve the community.
The Church Point Police Department was the latest agency to receive the life-saving equipment. Giles Automotive made the presentation at its Opelousas location.
Over the past several years, Giles Automotive has made it their mission to help keep police safe. With the five vests given to Church Point officers, the dealership has now donated more than 200 vests to local police departments.
Bob Giles said he hopes these donations inspire other business leaders to also give back to the community.
