LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech cornerback Amier Boyd-Matthews was arrested early Sunday morning for reckless driving in north Lubbock, the Lubbock Police Department confirmed.
Boyd-Matthews was reportedly seen doing donuts with a passenger hanging out of the back window, police said.
The incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of 3rd St., leading to a traffic stop by an officer. No injuries were reported, and Boyd-Matthews has since been released on bond from the Lubbock County Detention Center, according to jail records.
Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire addressed the situation during a media presser on Monday, stating, “It’s internal discipline action, we’ll handle it like we have any time in the past. We had a couple before, not many, but we’ll handle it inside.”
