Iran war: temporary or permanent interruption to automotive?

Closing the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted crude oil and LNG exports, as well as supplies of processed aluminium and other critical minerals from Middle East mines and smelters or other intermediate processing facilities. Industry ‘chatter’ has suggested that a shortage of aluminium billet, used in wheels and critical engine parts, is not far away.
