MSC Air Cargo has expanded its fleet to seven Boeing 777 freighters with the delivery of its third Italian-registered Boeing 777-200 Freighter, I-MSCC “Castor”, at Boeing’s Everett Delivery Center in Seattle on March 11, 2026.
With the addition of Castor, MSC Air Cargo has further increased its long-haul capacity as part of its ongoing fleet expansion strategy. Operated by MSC Air under its European Air Operator Certificate (AOC), the aircraft represents the latest step in the company’s structured growth plan.
The addition of a seventh Boeing 777F strengthens the carrier’s long-haul capabilities at a time of sustained demand on Europe–Asia trade lanes. The aircraft is expected to support the continued development of MSC Air Cargo’s Europe–Asia network and help the company provide stable and dedicated capacity across key intercontinental routes.
With this delivery, MSC Air Cargo has also expanded its Italian gateway coverage to include Rome Fiumicino alongside Milan Malpensa. Both gateways will be connected with Hong Kong, Shanghai Pudong and the newly introduced Ezhou Huahu.
Jannie Davel, Chief Executive Officer of MSC Air Cargo, said each new aircraft represents a commitment to customers and the trade lanes the company serves. “With the delivery of Castor, we reach seven Boeing 777 freighters, reinforcing our ability to serve customers where and when it matters most. Reliability and long-term partnerships are what drive every decision we make,” he said.
Ricardo Cavero, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Europe and Israel at Boeing, said the aircraft will support the airline’s long-haul expansion. He said the Boeing 777 Freighter’s fuel efficiency, payload and range will enable MSC Air Cargo to expand its operations reliably and efficiently to meet rising cargo demand.
Castor joins a growing fleet dedicated to specialised and time-critical cargo shipments, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, high-tech, automotive and aerospace cargo, as well as other industries that require stable intercontinental capacity.
Since starting operations, MSC Air Cargo has continued to expand its fleet and global footprint, building a scalable intercontinental platform aligned with changing trade patterns and customer requirements.
