Lohgaon, 4th March 2026: Several students of Newton School of Technology at ADYPU in Charholi have alleged that police carried out a lathi charge inside their hostel premises during Holi celebrations, leaving multiple students injured and triggering demands for an inquiry.
According to students, the incident occurred on Tuesday while they were celebrating Holi within the hostel campus. They claimed the gathering was peaceful and confined to the premises when police personnel entered without prior warning.
Students alleged that officers used batons to disperse the crowd, and several students were hit, including some who were not participating in the celebrations. When students questioned the use of force, they claimed that the hostel captain was threatened with being taken to the police station.
They further alleged that no warrant was shown and no written notice was presented before the police action. Students said any use of force must be proportionate and justified.
The incident has also raised concerns among students about the response of the college and hostel administration. They claimed that no official clarification or support has been provided to them following the episode.
