AI plays an important role in Samsung OLED displays, and the company has brought this new technology to Mobile World Congress to showcase just how AI is being used to improve the user experience with tech that utilizes this kind of hardware. The most notable of these new AI-optimized technologies is Samsung’s Flex Magic Pixel technology, because this is what’s used to help make the privacy display on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The Flex Magic Pixel tech is also just one of a few different AI-optimized OLED display technologies that Samsung is highlighting. Samsung isn’t just showcasing how AI is making its OLED displays better. One big focus on foldable displays is how durable they are. Are they able to withstand daily abuse? Samsung is showing just how durable its flexible OLEDs are by allowing event attendees to hit them with golf balls.
At its booth, Samsung has set up a putting station, and it’s letting people putt golf balls at a foldable smartphone that acts as the hole on a golf course. The setup is intended to show just how much of an impact the display can take from the golf balls. The company is also using a robotic arm to shoot basketballs at a backboard made of 18 foldable smartphones for the same purpose as the putt challenge.
The privacy display is one of the features made possible by Samsung AI-optimized OLED displays
As mentioned, the privacy display is one of Samsung’s latest advancements made possible by utilizing AI in its OLED display technology. The Flex Magic Pixel tech works by controlling the direction of light at the pixel level. This allows the display to hide information when being viewed from an off-axis angle. Meanwhile, the user of the phone can still see things clearly from the front.
This is likely going to be a pretty big deal, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Samsung expand it to other devices going forward. Samsung is showing off a few different concept products as well, including the Mini PetBot companion robot concept and the AI Toy House concept, which combines a 13.4-inch circular OLED and an 18.3-inch flexible OLED that can serve as high-resolution backdrops for collectibles.
