By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating the theft of construction tools valued at almost $1,500 BZD from a truck being used as a warehouse at a work site in Orange Walk Town.
Reports indicate that a 52-year-old Belizean businessman of 134 Otro Benque Road left his 6-wheel cargo truck open at his construction site across from Independence Park around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
However, when he returned to the location at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, he discovered that several tools had been stolen from the truck’s container.
Among the missing items are a Bosh green hammer drill valued at $400 BZD, a Makita green skill saw valued at $350 BZD, two Ryobi cordless drills with batteries and charger valued at $350 BZD, a heavy-duty yellow Dewalt grinder valued at $350 BZD, and a Craftsman tool bag valued at $40 BZD. The total value of the stolen items amounts to $1,490 BZD.
Police reviewed video footage from the Copa Cabana Night Club, which reportedly shows an unknown male of Creole descent carrying a backpack entering the site around 4:00 p.m. and leaving approximately 15 minutes later with a red bag.
The suspect remains unidentified. No property has been recovered.
The scene was processed and photographed, and a formal statement was recorded from the complainant. The matter remains under investigation.
