ALTON — Delaney Ortmann, a 5-foot-10 sophomore for Marquette Catholic’s regional champion girls basketball team, has emerged as one of the catalysts in the Explorers’ success during the 2025-2026 season, according to coach Whitney Sykes.
Ortmann’s development this season has positioned her as a key contributor for Marquette Catholic, with Sykes pointing to her impact on both ends of the floor.
“Delaney is a very solid offensive player,” Sykes said. “She is always a threat when she is on the floor.”

Sykes also highlighted Ortmann’s defensive presence, particularly her ability to disrupt opponents with her size and reach.
“Defensively, she can create a lot of problems with her length,” Coach Sykes said. “She gets a lot of deflections at the top of our defense.”
Sykes said Ortmann’s growth this season suggests significant potential moving forward.
