Metzgerdy Lamy and Joel Almarez-Olivares each scored 14 points to lead Triton past Gloucester Tech 53-51 in the semifinal round of the Tri-County Conference Tournament in Deptford.
Lamy connected on five two-point field goals and one 3-pointer. Almarez-Olivares was sharp from beyond the arc, hitting four 3-pointers. Scott Cave added 8 points, going 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Triton (10-15) built its lead with a strong first half, outscoring Gloucester Tech 29-23 through two quarters. Gloucester Tech responded with a 17-15 edge in the third quarter to pull within two, but Triton held on in the fourth quarter 9-11 to secure the two-point victory.
Carl Schmidt led Gloucester Tech (12-13) with 19 points, hitting one 3-pointer and converting 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. Ian Malgapo added 17 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Triton travels to face Washington Township at 3 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the Tri-County Conference Tournament final round. Gloucester Tech travels to face Egg Harbor at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 20.
