New contract between Pascagoula Metal Trades Council and Ingalls Shipbuilding heads to vote

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) – Negotiations over a collective bargaining agreement between the Pascagoula Metal Trades Council (PMTC) and Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding will soon go to a vote.

The council represents about 6,000 employees at Ingalls, advocating for an increase in wages and benefits.

These discussions mark the first time in over 18 years that PMTC and Ingalls have engaged in full negotiations. The past 18 years only saw the two parties negotiate contract extensions.

Last week, Ingalls presented its final offer.

The offer includes a raise in base pay in addition to yearly raises until 2030. Certain job classifications would also receive special pay raises.

“We are pleased the union leadership discussions have resulted in an agreement that eligible Ingalls Shipbuilding union employees can now vote on. This offer was thoughtfully designed to attract and retain a skilled workforce while ensuring the flexibility needed to compete in a highly competitive industry. If approved, this would be the largest single wage increase in Ingalls Shipbuilding history.”

Voting on the new contract will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 24th.
