Thomas Edison Energy Charter defeats Somerset Tech – Boys basketball recap

Jordan Smith delivered a season-high 21 points while pulling down 15 rebounds to lead Thomas Edison Energy Charter past Somerset Tech 67-50 in Bridgewater.

The double-double was Smith’s third consecutive, and he added 7 assists and a steal to round out an all-around effort.

Avick Kumar was equally impactful, finishing with 13 points, 10 assists and 3 steals. Aaryan Dyapa chipped in a career-high 14 points, going 4-of-4 from three-point range to go along with 3 assists and 2 steals. Jemuel Oppong contributed seven points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists, while Oluwajomiloju Olawale added 5 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.

As a team, Thomas Edison shot 8-of-8 from three-point range and finished with 28 assists, 8 blocks and 14 steals.

Thomas Edison (4-17) travels to face Belvidere at 5 p.m. on Feb. 23. Somerset Tech (8-17) hosts Belvidere at 6 p.m. on Feb. 20.
