Vehicle fire in Ketchikan spreads to shipping container, no injuries reported

Fire crews in Ketchikan responded to a vehicle fire that spread to a shipping container over the weekend.

The Ketchikan Fire Department says the fire broke out Sunday afternoon along Hopkins Alley. When crews arrived, they found a vehicle fully involved in flames, which had spread to a nearby shipping container.

Firefighters were able to salvage several carvings and other goods, and no injuries were reported.

Investigators from the Ketchikan Police Department and Fire Department are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

Crews returned to service within about two hours, and the community is being thanked for providing information and support.
