TD Africa, in partnership with the Enugu Tech Festival and the Enugu State Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, has launched a fully sponsored cybersecurity and data science training programme aimed at equipping young Africans with in-demand digital skills.
The initiative, branded “Code Your Defence,” comes amid rising demand for professionals capable of securing digital infrastructure and driving data-led decision-making as digital transformation accelerates across Africa. Cybersecurity and data science have increasingly become central to innovation, governance and business growth on the continent.
According to the organisers, the programme is designed to deliver industry-relevant training aligned with global standards. Participants will undergo a structured curriculum that combines foundational knowledge with hands-on learning and real-world application, with the goal of producing job-ready talent capable of meeting current market needs.
Speaking on the initiative, the Head of Marketing at TD Africa, Fridel Makun, said the programme reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening digital capacity and expanding access to quality technology education for young people. He noted that Africa’s digital future depends on practical skills development rather than inspiration alone.
“At TD Africa, we believe Africa’s digital future will be shaped by people who are equipped, not just inspired. ‘Code Your Defence’ is our way of expanding access to training that builds confidence, competence and career readiness. By investing in cybersecurity and data science, we are helping young Africans develop skills that are globally relevant and urgently needed across industries,” Makun said.
Successful participants will receive professional training delivered by experienced instructors, access to an industry-standard curriculum, and opportunities to obtain globally recognised certifications. The programme also offers pathways to job placements, internships and broader career advancement.
The training is open to students and recent graduates, early-career professionals seeking to upskill, as well as individuals looking to transition into cybersecurity or data science. Organisers said no advanced prior experience is required, provided applicants demonstrate a strong willingness to learn.
Training is scheduled to commence on January 19, 2026, with applications open for a limited number of participants.
The organisers described the initiative as part of a broader effort to close Africa’s digital skills gap and build a future-ready workforce capable of securing digital systems, unlocking the value of data and supporting sustainable development across the continent.
