PanARMENIAN.Net – Rail transport of bitumen and liquefied gas will be carried out through Azerbaijan, Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced on his Facebook page.

“An agreement has been reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the railway transport of liquefied gas and bitumen through Azerbaijani territory. Our businesses can now take advantage of this opportunity as well,” Papoyan wrote.

On December 19, a train of 22 wagons carrying gasoline from Azerbaijan’s SOCAR company entered Armenia. Two additional batches followed. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan addressed the issue of Azerbaijani gasoline imports, stating: “As I understand it, purchasing this gasoline is very beneficial for Armenian citizens. I’ve seen boycott calls, but I’ve also learned there are queues for this gasoline.”

When asked why Azerbaijan is supplying Armenia with cheap gasoline, Mirzoyan responded: “Because peace has been established and cooperation must be built. Their goods will pass through our territory, and ours will pass through theirs.”
