Rohm has launched the BD9xxN5 series of low-dropout (LDO) regulator integrated circuits with 500mA output current, targeting 12V/24V primary power supply applications in automotive equipment, industrial equipment and communication infrastructure. The 18-product series uses Rohm’s proprietary Nano Cap technology to enable stable operation with output capacitors below 1µF, supporting ultra-small multi-layer ceramic capacitors as small as 0.6mm x 0.3mm where stability was previously difficult to achieve.
The new series builds on Rohm’s BD9xxN1 series launched in 2022, increasing output current to more than three times the previous 150mA. The regulators achieve output voltage ripple of approximately 250mV with load current variation of 1mA to 500mA within 1µs using output capacitance of just 470nF.
Mass production commenced in October 2025 at a monthly capacity of 300,000 units, with a sample price of US$2.00 per unit. The series is available through online distributors including DigiKey, Mouser and Farnell. All products are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications and operate across a temperature range of -40°C to +150°C.
