Lufthansa Cargo expands A321 Freighter network with Rome and Algiers

Lufthansa Cargo is strengthening its short- and medium-haul freighter network by adding Rome-Fiumicino and Algiers as new A321 freighter destinations from February 2026.

From 7 February, Rome will be served once weekly from Frankfurt, with onward connections to Istanbul and Munich, formally integrating Lufthansa Cargo’s newest Southern European hub into the regular schedule following strong ad hoc demand. The move underlines Rome’s growing strategic role, offering customers access to over 120 onward destinations via freighters, road feeder services, and ITA Airways’ cargo capacity.

From 10 February 2026, Algiers will join the network with a weekly A321 freighter service from Frankfurt, further expanding Lufthansa Cargo’s footprint in Africa. With this addition, the airline will offer direct freighter connections to seven destinations across the Middle East and Africa.

Overall, the short- and medium-haul network now covers 22 destinations operated by four A321 freighters, complemented by 18 B777 long-haul freighters and extensive belly cargo capacity across partner airlines. Supported by five European hubs, Lufthansa Cargo continues to enhance connectivity, flexibility, and resilience across its global cargo network of around 350 destinations in 100 countries.
