The license reinforces Saudi Arabia’s commitment to facilitating foreign investment and enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of its maritime sector
Mawani, the Saudi Ports Authority, has granted a unified license to the international shipping company Global Shipping Line (PIL), officially recognizing it as an authorized foreign investor permitted to operate maritime agencies within the Kingdom’s ports.
The license, issued under the regulations of the Maritime Agency Services, reflects Mawani’s commitment to enhancing maritime sector efficiency and improving operational service quality at Saudi ports. It is also designed to attract global expertise, facilitate knowledge transfer, and align the Kingdom’s maritime operations with international best practices.
This initiative forms part of Mawani’s broader strategy to develop the maritime business environment, encourage international investment, and increase competitiveness across the sector. Global Shipping Line (PIL), with regional headquarters in Riyadh, manages operations across 29 countries, bringing significant global experience to the Kingdom.
The license strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position as a strategic logistics hub under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reinforcing its role as a key maritime link connecting three continents and attracting additional international shipping lines to the Kingdom.
