With several major automakers chasing their share of the growing electric vehicle market in India, one would expect that it would be the entry-level EVs that would be driving mass adoption. However, the market has been showing an opposite trend with more premium mid-sized electric offerings driving a larger share of the adoption rate. This is mainly because entry-level EVs are largely considered as a gateway product that is limited in its range, capacity and power, things that more premium offerings can fulfill better. While that may have been true up till recently, Tata Motors has recently launched its new Punch EV and for once, the tech updates matter a lot more than the design and features upgrades.
