Setco Auto Systems, a manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle clutches, on Saturday said it has partnered with Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur to establish a joint research laboratory aimed at developing next-generation automotive technologies and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
The facility, inaugurated on March 11 at the VNIT campus, will focus on research in clutch systems, friction materials, performance optimisation and advanced engineering design.
It will also explore the use of digital engineering tools and emerging technologies such as generative AI to accelerate product development.
“By integrating academic insight with industry experience and emerging technologies such as Generative AI, we can develop smarter and more sustainable solutions for the mobility sector,” said Harish Sheth, CMD, Setco Auto Systems.
The collaboration is expected to enable faculty members, researchers and students to work on industry-relevant engineering challenges alongside company experts, while supporting research in automotive component development.
