Norfolk Southern Railway has extended its partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology‘s Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), committing $500,000 over the next two years toward the center’s Sustainability Tech initiative, the Class I announced today.

The renewed investment builds on a multiyear collaboration that positioned ATDC as one of Georgia’s leading platforms for founders developing solutions that address climate, energy and environmental challenges, NS officials said in a press release.

Launched in 2023, the center’s Sustainability Tech initiative has supported more than 35 sustainability focused portfolio companies and engaged additional startups across ATDC’s broader portfolio. There are now 29 companies active in the initiative, spanning industries such as renewable energy, circular economy technologies, energy efficiency, water tech, ag tech and climate data solutions.

“ATDC remains at the forefront of cleantech innovation in Georgia,” said NS Chief Sustainability Officer Josh Raglin. “Norfolk Southern and ATDC share a clear vision for developing and deploying technology to help businesses meet their sustainability goals, which is why extending this partnership is so meaningful.”

The partnership with ATDC is designed to support one-on-one startup coaching, build a pipeline of innovators across the state and help improve Georgia’s economy.
